Limekiln Wedding Photographer — Jack & Abi | Oliver Holder Photography
Jack and Abi's wedding at Limekiln was one of those days that just had everything. Warmth, laughter, emotion, a little boy in a suit who stole every room he walked into, and two people who were so clearly and completely right for each other. From the first moments of getting ready to the last song of the evening, it was a genuine joy to be there.
Getting Ready
There's a particular kind of energy in a getting-ready room when everyone is excited and the reality of the day is starting to hit — and Abi's morning had it in abundance. Bridesmaids in pale blue, make-up brushes flying, champagne poured far too early, and a small pageboy who had absolutely no interest in keeping his tie straight. The moment Abi's family saw her in her dress, the room went quiet for just a second before erupting entirely.
The Ceremony
Limekiln's ceremony barn is exceptional — soaring vaulted ceilings, warm oak beams, and tall arched windows that pour natural light across the room. Jack watched Abi come down the aisle with an expression I won't quickly forget. The ring exchange dissolved into laughter (as the best ones always do), and when they finally kissed, the whole room let out the kind of cheer that makes you feel very lucky to be standing there with a camera.
“We are so grateful to Oliver for capturing our wedding day. We really wanted a relaxed approach to the photos, capturing smaller important moments, reactions and just general fun from our guests and he exceeded expectations. We have pictures that we will treasure forever and so we can't recommend him enough. He was also so great at directing us for our couple pictures, this didn't come naturally to us but we got some beautiful photos. Thank you Oliver!”
Drinks & Canapés
The Limekiln gardens really come into their own at drinks reception time. Guests spilled out onto the lawns with champagne in hand, the lawn games brought out a fiercely competitive streak in some of the groomsmen, and the little pageboy — having apparently decided that cornhole boards are primarily for lying on — remained the most photographed guest of the afternoon.

Get in TouchCouple Portraits
Jack and Abi were honest with me from the start — posing for photos wasn't their comfort zone. It rarely is, and honestly I think that's a good thing. We took a short wander around the Limekiln grounds, I gave them something to do rather than something to look like, and within a few minutes they'd completely forgotten I was there. The results are everything.
The Wedding Breakfast & Speeches
The Limekiln dining room is genuinely one of the finest reception spaces I've had the pleasure of photographing — statement chandeliers, floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Sussex countryside, and a warm elegance that somehow never feels cold or formal. The room was set beautifully, and the atmosphere from the moment guests sat down was exactly right.
The speeches were everything wedding speeches should be: funny, heartfelt, and occasionally going slightly off-script in the best possible way. Jack's speech had Abi looking up at him through tears of laughter. The room did the napkin wave. There were standing ovations. At one point I think even the speeches started crying.
Looking for a photographer who captures the real moments — the laughter, the tears, the completely unplanned ones? Let's talk.
Say HelloAbout Limekiln — Wedding Venue, East Sussex
Limekiln is one of the most sought-after wedding venues in East Sussex, set amid the rolling countryside of the South Downs. The venue's ceremony barn is quite simply stunning: soaring vaulted ceilings, original oak beams, and tall arched windows that flood the space with beautiful natural light throughout the day. The beautifully landscaped gardens — complete with manicured lawns, wildflower borders and open views across the Sussex countryside — provide a magical backdrop for outdoor drinks receptions and couple portraits.
The dining room at Limekiln ranks among the finest wedding breakfast spaces in the South East. Statement chandeliers hang above round tables set with crisp white linen, while floor-to-ceiling windows frame views of the countryside beyond. Whether you're planning an intimate ceremony of fifty guests or a larger celebration, the team at Limekiln bring genuine warmth and expertise to every wedding they host.
As a Limekiln wedding photographer, I've had the privilege of photographing some wonderful days at this East Sussex venue, and it never disappoints. If you're planning a wedding at Limekiln and you're looking for a relaxed, documentary-style photographer — someone who focuses on the real moments rather than the posed ones, the laughter, the quiet in-between seconds and the pure, unfiltered joy of the day — I'd genuinely love to hear from you.
Party Time
By the time the evening kicked in, the energy at Limekiln was electric. Jack and Abi's entrance to the dance floor had the whole room on its feet, and from that point forward the party never let up. This is what it's all about — margaritas, dancing, and the uncomplicated joy of celebrating with the people you love most.
